Password Management
ALWAYS change your passwords periodically.
NEVER reveal your passwords or card details to anyone.
ALWAYS keep your computer free of malware.
NEVER respond to any communication seeking your passwords.
♦ Sharing passwords is a great security risk. Never share your passwords with anyone.
♦ Do not provide user-id and passwords on any page that appears as a popup when you click on a hyperlink received through email.
♦ Do not store passwords in a file on ANY computers without encryption.
♦ The Password should contain a minimum of 9 characters and a maximum of 28 characters in length and also the password should contain atleast 4 characters in it.
♦ Password should not contain your user name. E.g. If your user name is "Sun", then your password should not be "Sunny" Your password should contain Alphabets, digits and atleast one special character like $#^@\&%.
♦ Long Alpha Sequences:
An acceptable password must not have an alphabetic sequence longer than three (3) characters.
♦ Long Digit Sequences:
An acceptable password must not have a digit sequence longer than two (2) characters.
♦ Forbidden Characters:
There are a few characters that will cause problems if used in a password - for example, 'delete' character is one of it.
♦ Writing down your password:
You should never write a password in paper or in word document in system. Someone may discover the password. Make sure the set password is difficult for others to crack but easy for you to memorise and remember.
♦ Try to avoid following things as Passwords:
- Dictionary words (including foreign and technical dictionaries)
- Name of a person or a thing, a place, a proper noun, a phone number or a vehicle number
- Simple pattern of letters on keyboards
- Any of the above reversed or concatenated
♦ Do not let your computer remember your password.
